Rainy Day Remix

Chloe and I took a break today. We took a break from our two-week-long, indoor packing party. She needed to go outside and play. The funny part is: we chose a rainy day to take that outdoor break. A bit backwards, no?

We've missed the rain around here. Also, it cooled things off a bit. It's too stinkin' hot around here to play outside at noon. So after lunch, we went outside to destroy the puddles.

Then we came inside for a bath to clean up that dirty, but oh-so-cute, face. She's a mess (literally and figuratively).

Favorite Reads for the Kiddo: Brown Bear, Brown Bear

Chloe's favorite 'toy' is probably her collection of books. Most of them are packed away for the next few weeks. I really cannot wait to get Chloe settled back into a functioning household. She's been a real trooper while I spend my days packing up the house. It must be so boring for her. Luckily she entertains herself quite well.

Back to the topic. This probably isn't the book I would have picked for our first children's book linkup. However, it is one of her favorites. It's the first book she memorized. It cracks me up because if you didn't know any better, you would think she could read. For the record, she cannot but it makes quite the parlor trick.

The book is: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?

We bought this book from Kohl's for $5. I bought it for her because I remember really enjoying it when I was in Kindergarten. Chloe is a little over 2 now and she loves this book. She loved it when I first bought it which was well before she was 2. So, I think this book will have a long shelf life on any kid's bookshelf. I like that it teaches colors, animals and rhyme (which in turn helps with phonics and reading). I enjoy the illustrations, too. Like the cover, the illustrations are reminiscent of a child's drawing which I think is appealing to children (and the young at heart...like myself).

This book should be easy to find at a public library. But, you can purchase it on Amazon for under $8.

Thanks to Heather at What Does She Do All Day? for hosting this linkup! Go check out more book recommendations over at her blog.

Watermarked images and a new house

I've been on a bit of a mission. I've been trying to create a watermark for my photos. Which explains why the blog has been down for a week or so...Find out why it was so urgent for me by visiting Skye's blog.

There are a couple of reasons it took a while. One, we are moving!!! The house is sold (unless the closing falls through). Two, I couldn't figure out how to create an easy to use watermark. I was finally able to find a decent tutorial for Gimp.

I haven't been able to watermark all my images. I've been blogging for so long that it will take a while to go back and replace all my images with watermarks. To be honest, I'm not sure that's a good use of my time anyway. I have watermarked all the recent posts that show up on my homepage. That's a start, right?

Back to moving: I'm excited to start sharing before and after photos. The house we are buying is very plain jane. It needs quite a bit of updating; although, it is extremely clean and ready for occupancy. So get ready for a home tour and home improvement posts!! My guess is that will start around October!

Here she is! The new house.
